Cynthia Huber
Cynthia Huber is a renowned artist who has made a name for herself in the world of photography and printmaking with her innovative technique known as the chemigram. Born in the United States in 1950, Huber grew up with a passion for the arts and pursued a degree in fine arts from the University of Michigan. After graduation, she moved to New York City, where she honed her skills as a photographer and printmaker, experimenting with various techniques and mediums.
Looking at Huber's work here, this was a hand-colored work and I always wonder if the artist knows what to expect when creating a chemigram. From the looks of it she had an idea when creating this from the square blocks and the amazing colors. The chemigram reminds me of ash in a sort of way and I wonder how and what she used to achieve such an amazing result. Another one of Huber's work which I really enjoyed. This work used stencils, coconut oil, varnish, sprays on both fixer and developer. I can't even imagine how she even tried to get these colors I assume this is the coconut oil being dropped on. The gold shinning looks amazing and she has those little streaks of purple in the circles and I think it looks stunning. I loved this work by Huber, it reminds me of a labyrinth. The clear lines creating a maze with the colors fading in and out really amazes me. This one uses the same tools as the last work, using stencils, coconut oil, varnish, and sprays on fixer and developer. It crazy to me how the same tools can be used to create such different and amazing works.
