Ernst Haas was an Austrian American color photographer and photojournalist, he was born in 1921 and lived until 1986. He was considered one of the main pioneers in color photography. His early works consisted of photographing the Austrian returning prisoners of war that soon brought attention to his name in magazines like Life. Haas was known for intentionally taking his photos out of focus as well as his reflection works.

In this reflection piece by Haas, the first thing that stands out to me is of course the center of the picture with what appears to be a woman in red that has been taken in the reflection in what I would guess to be a storefront in New York. I feel that this image captures what it is like to be in the city with everything kind of being in a blur. In my experience in New York, it is really hard to remember a random face that I might see while walking along the road and I feel that this image does a fantastic job showing this off.

In this image by Haas, he captures Central Park in New York City with the buildings and trees reflecting off of a body of water in the park. I feel like this image is engaging for a couple of reasons, the main reason for me was the fog that seems to capture the park. It is very impressive that the building would show through such a fog and reflect onto the water which I believe makes the image very interesting. The other reason I enjoy this image so much would be that lone man walking towards the right side of the image and how his body also reflects onto the water giving a feeling of solidary which in New York City is not really the case with millions of people living in the city.

In the first image, I looked at by Haas where I described how he photographed what New York City felt like I feel like this image does a better job at that. He seemed to have captured a busy street in the reflection of some building. The first thing that caught my eye was the yellow taxi in the background that seems to travel across the photo. Again not one face is really in focus which captures what it is like to walk around the city which is super interesting. I believe he might have used a longer exposure in this photo the capture that blurry feeling and I believe that this was the correct choice because it makes the image more realistic in a way by a feeling of kind of confusion trying to find one particular face or place to find focus in which is super engaging.
