Man Ray was an important influencer in the Dada and Surrealist movements. Man Ray did a lot in the art area, most of his works are paintings, photographs, and photograms, or as he called them "Rayographs". Most of Ray's work consisted of models and a few of which he had dated. Ray's work consisted of mostly portraits of people either, the face, eye, or some portion of the body. Ray did work in some of the worlds most influential cities, these being Paris, Hollywood, and New York City.
This is one of my favorite works by Man Ray, one of his "Rayograms". This work looks really impressive, I liked it so much because it looks like someone is holding the world in their hands. This was done by exposing the object to a certain amount of light while he put his hands over the object and moves them back and forth to create the appearance of the hands in motion.
This is by far my favorite work by Man Ray. The way the little glass balls roll off her cheeks making them look like tears is such a unique look. Her pupils are looking away from the camera giving us the question of what got her attention and why she is crying. This picture was taken in 1932 right after Man Ray had gone through a break up. So this image could have been how Ray was feeling at the moment looking off in the distance when the pain was going to be over.
